Sociologi och föreställningen om det radikalt annorlunda

Abstract

Syftet med denna artikel är att undersöka föreställningar om nedväxtsamhället som ett alternativ till grön tillväxt för att förstå och hantera klimatkrisen. Med utgångspunkt i aktuell tillväxtkritisk forskningslitteratur undersöks hur författare har föreställt sig ett framtida samhälle präglat av nedväxt. Artikelns analytiska ansats är att söka urskilja mönster och tendenser genom en systematisk genomgång av vetenskapligt baserade framtidsbilder. Ett sådant angreppssätt kan sägas ligga i linje med det vidare program som syftar till att visa på sociologins betydelse för samhällsförändring och i förlängningen hur vi föreställer oss och rekonstruerar världen bortom klimatkrisen. Exempel på hur livet i ett framtida nedväxtsamhälle skulle kunna gestalta sig presenteras utifrån fyra övergripande områden: ”livsstil”, ”infrastruktur”, ”styrning och organisering” samt ”arbete och ekonomi”. Föreställningar om det radikalt annorlunda belyses vidare genom sociologiska resonemang kring begreppet utopi.
