About Sociologisk Forskning

Sociologisk Forskning is published by the Swedish Sociological Association with support from the Swedish Research Council. The journal publishes scientific articles within the field of sociology, and is oriented towards researchers and others with an interest in the empirical, theoretical and methodological developments in sociology and the social sciences. In Sociologisk Forskning, results from ongoing research projects and analyses of the theoretical and methodological developments within sociology are continously published. The journal has a special focus on Swedish and Nordic society, and regularly publishes special issues on contemporary research areas. The journal accepts contributions in Swedish, English, Norwegian and Danish. Besides original research articles, the journal publishes reviews of Swedish and international literature in sociology and the social sciences. Shorter debate pieces are also welcomed. For scientific articles, Sociologisk Forskning adheres to a double-blind peer review process. The quarterly journal was founded in 1964.

Indexing. Sociologisk Forskning is indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, DOAJ, Artikelsök, Social Science Premium Collection (inklusive Sociological Abstracts) and SocINDEX. Sociologisk Forskning is also available through JSTOR.

Editorial board. By tradition, the responsibility for managing and publishing Sociologisk Forskning rotates between different universities in Sweden. The placement of the editorial board is decided by the journal’s owner, the Swedish Sociological Association. The editors and editorial board is appointed at the sociology department that is currently responsible for the journal. Since 2023, the responsibility for publishing Sociologisk Forskning is located at Linköping University. Previously, the editorial board has been located at the following universities during the following years: Uppsala University (1964–1966, 1973–1974, 1983–1985, 1993–1995 and 2009–2012), Lund University (1967–1969, 1976–1977, 1987–1989, 2006–2008 and 2017–2020), University of Gothenburg (1970–1972, 1985–1987 and 1995–1997), Stockholm University (1975, 1980–1983, 1991–1993 and 1999–2001), Umeå University (1978–1980, 1989–1991 and 2003–2005), Örebro University (1997–1999), Linnæus University (Växjö) (2001–2003), Mid Sweden University (Östersund) (2012–2014), Dalarna University (Falun) (2014–2017), Södertörn University (2020–2022) and Linköping University (2023–).

The Segerstedt price. At the biannual Sociologidagarna conference, the Swedish Sociological Association awards the Segerstedt price for best article in Sociologisk Forskning for each year. The Segerstedt price was inaugurated in 1994.

The logo for the Swedish Sociological Association was created by Marcus Persson in 2007 on behalf of the then board.
